Reading and Internalization
The important thing is this: to be ready at any moment to sacrifice what you are for what you could become.- Charles Dickens
If you’re like me, you read a quote, it makes you feel good, you read it once or twice more, then you move on. But what if you tried something different? What if you internalized it? Lived it? Let it truly soak into your soul and the cells of your body?
My life coach challenged me this year to do just that with the Bible. She challenged me to read it, then live (put to action) what I read that day.
My assignment is to read the book of Proverbs. One each day (there are 31 of them) find something that speaks to me, then repeat this process for the remainder of the year. Essentially reading and living the Book of Proverbs for 12 months.
Why Proverbs? Because I loved reading King Solomon’s wisdom and because this is a year of taking action, thus the blogs title “an ounce of effort”. Here’s the interesting part. The word Proverb means; pro=for verb=action together “for action”.
So the next time you read a quote or a passage in the Bible, I challenge you to slow down, internalize it, search for its meaning and then live it.
So with that in mind, let me ask you, what ARE you willing to sacrifice for what you could become?
Have a great day!
